The Salutation Tea Room
Situated in the Old Gatehouse you will find the rather special Tea Rooms, which evoke the elegant Edwardian pastime of taking tea. Cream teas and home-made cakes are just some of the delicious treats on offer, and a full and varied menu of freshly-prepared food is sure to delight everyone who lingers for longer.
Guests can also enjoy the spacious wooden terrace which extends from the Gatehouse along the western wall. Shaded by lofty lime trees and with a view of the impressive façade of The Salutation manor house, the terrace allows guests to make the most of fine weather.
As of 2012, the Tea Rooms have been split into two sections, Jekyll Style and Lutyens Light Bites. Find out more below:
Opening Times
The Jekyll Style Tea Room is now open 7 days a week from 10.30am – 5.00pm. The Lutyens Light Bites will open mid-May.
Jekyll Style
The Jekyll Style tea room features many of the characteristics of the original Salutation tea room, and offers visitors a selection of leaf teas, herbal teas and freshly ground coffee. The luxury cream teas and exquisite cakes and pastries are sure to delight everyone.
Guests can also enjoy sitting out on the spacious wooden terrace that extends along the western wall, perfect in the summer time to make the most of the fine weather and relax in the tranquil surroundings.

Lutyens Light Bites
Lutyens Light Bites will be our alfresco dining area on the spacious deck, and is ideal for group visits. It will offer a choice of prepared and plated light lunches, cakes, and tea and coffee for visitors to indulge in.
Lutyens Light Bites is ideal for a quick and easy light lunch enabling visitors to make the most of their time exploring the beautiful surroundings of the gardens, our plant shop and the luxury gift shop.
