Take Tea in the Gardens for Mother’s Day
Sunday March 14, 2010 is Mother’s Day – the one day in the year we traditionally turn up with flowers, to thank our mothers for all those years of unstinting devotion.
This year, when Mother’s Day arrives, why not surprise her – and go that extra mile to show her your appreciation?
Instead of taking flowers to your mother, take your mother to the flowers!
The Secret Gardens of Sandwich are just beginning to blossom after a winter of hard work by their expert team of eight gardeners.
More than 40,000 bulbs are poking their heads through the hardened soil and the trees are bursting into bud around these splendid Edwardian walled gardens, which surround The Salutation, the Lutyens-designed Manor House, which sits alongside the historic quay at Sandwich, Kent.
As well as taking a tour of these stunning gardens, you can treat your mother to tea in the elegant Edwardian Tea Rooms, with its stylish starched linen and crockery from London’s Savoy Hotel.
The Secret Gardens’ speciality cream teas are legend and, with the addition of the new Chocolate Cream Tea, is a must for everyone who enjoys the finer things in life!
A selection of elegant sandwiches, home made scones, cakes and a choice of fine teas, beautifully served in fine bone china, is the perfect way to round off your tour of the gardens – and a memory your mother will treasure for the rest of the year.
To be sure of a table on Mothering Sunday, it is advisable to book – telephone 01304 612730.
If you can’t get to Sandwich in person on Mother’s Day, why not treat your mother to a gift voucher – available by telephone and post? That way, she can enjoy the gardens – and the cream tea – on any day of the year?
Vouchers, which come in an attractive gift wallet, start from £5 and can be tailored to meet your requirements – from admission, champagne and cream teas to plants and other gardening gifts. To purchase, simply telephone 01304 619919.
The Secret Gardens are open seven days a week, throughout the year, with a wide variety of things to see including a Tropical Border, Spring Garden, Vegetable, Kitchen, White and Yellow Gardens.
