Ohh La La! French Expert to show his Largesse at The Secret Gardens of Sandwich
Hugh Jardin, the world renowned French horticulturalist, is to join the team at the hugely-successful Secret Gardens of Sandwich.
With a popularity in France on a par with England’s own Alan Titchmarsh, Hugh is well-known for sowing his seeds throughout mainland Europe and is a big fan of Monet’s famous garden at Giverny.
Today, Hugh’s largesse is much in demand by the rich and famous, particularly in the Parisienne suburb of Montmartre, where his green fingers have been known to relieve the problems of many a damsel in distress.
His dexterity with a length of garden twine is legend and he lists Carol Bruni, the supermodel-turned-President’s wife, among his more recent admirers.
Never one to hide his light under a bushel, Hugh announced, “I am very excited to have the opportunity of consorting with the Secret-eurs right here in the ‘Garden of England’.”
“Before now, I have thought the Sandwich to be something the English ate only with the ‘rosbif’ but I have found the Secret Gardens to be an unexpected joy. I am especially excited by the enormous vegetables. Even ‘les petites pois’ are grandes!”
“Helping to further enlarge the size of husbandry will be my first challenge. Thereafter, I shall be looking at how we can increase productivity in the potting shed to get maximum use from our extensive beds and borders.”
Dominic Parker, owner of the award-winning tourist attraction, said: “We are certain that Hugh’s Gallic charm and amour will be of tremendous benefit in the neighbourhood and it is only a matter of time before our well-kept secret is out.
“We are cock-a-hoop that such a famous French propagator has agreed to bring his considerable intellect and bon viveur to Sandwich.”
“Hugh is famous for his length of know-how throughout Continental Europe and once he’s bedded in we fully expect him to conquer the English-speaking world.”
“With the help of a phrase book, naturally.”
