Meet the gardeners
Steve Edney, Head Gardener
Head Gardener Steve Edney is a former tree surgeon who has devoted the past 4 years to The Secret Gardens and has led the transformation from neglected wilderness to harmonious oasis. A passionate and expert gardener, Steve’s knowledge has enabled the team to seamlessly mix the original style of the Gardens with more exciting and unusual planting.
The Team
Steve’s team consists of Deputy Head gardener Richard Burrin, Jane Gearty and Sam Scarlet. Each year the core team are joined by three apprentices from Hadlow College who spend the year at The Secret Gardens as part of their training. We are also lucky enough to have a dedicated selection of volunteers who generously give their time and energy in to keeping the Gardens looking their best.
